Main advantages of a residence visa

makes it possible to reside in the country;

makes it possible to obtain the status of tax resident (while meeting additional conditions);

open a bank account;

rent a dwelling by entering into an official contract;

use cell carriers’ services;

obtain a driver’s license.

In 2022, the UAE changed its migration legislation and significantly broadened the grounds for obtaining a “golden visa”; in particular, now such a visa may be obtained by exceptional talents in the field of culture and art.

Also the period of validity of such a visa was extended and the conditions were improved compared to the “usual” residence visa:

  • the period of validity of a “golden visa” is 10 years;
  • a visa sponsor is not required;
  • possibility to obtain residence visas for family members with no age restrictions;
  • no restrictions regarding staying outside the UAE.

Main requirements for applicants in the “exceptional talent” category

  • prove creative achievements in the field of culture and art and obtain a letter of recommendation from the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth;
  • the applicant must be 25 years old or older.

Procedure of obtaining a visa

1. Obtain a letter of recommendation from the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth or the Department of Culture of Dubai (if the visa application is to be filed in the Emirate of Dubai).

The following documents must be provided:

  • passport copy;
  • photo;
  • CV;
  • creative portfolio.

Documents may be submitted remotely.

The review takes 1 – 1.5 months.

2. After obtaining a letter of recommendation, come to the UAE, submit documents to obtain a “golden visa” and, after approval has been received, finalize the procedure of obtaining residency – visa and Emirates ID.

Required documents:

  • passport;
  • photo;
  • letter of recommendation from the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth or the Department of Culture of Dubai.

The obtaining takes 1.5 – 2 weeks.
