  • Krung Thai Bank is the second largest commercial bank in Thailand;
  • the bank was established for government needs in 1966 through the merger of two state-owned financial institutions; it is headquartered in Bangkok, with the Thai Ministry of Finance as its largest shareholder (55%);
  • the bank’s network includes 1 024 branches and 4 foreign offices (PRC, USA, India, and Cambodia);
  • it opens savings (deposit) and settlement accounts;
  • accounts are opened in local currency (THB); foreign currency accounts are only available to foreigners with a work visa or retirement visa;
  • there are transfer and payment limits – up to THB 2 000 000 / day (~ USD 60 000);
  • there is a minimum deposit requirement of at least THB 500 (~ USD 15);
  • both domestic transfers and international SWIFT transfers (with conversion of foreign currency into THB) are possible;
  • apersonal visit to a bank’s branch is required to open an account;
  • the bank issues bank cards;
  • Internet banking in English;
