To register a yacht in Belize, the following documents are required to be provided/ prepared:

  1. Questionnaire “Information for registration” (for the purpose of filling in the registration forms);
  2. Application for registration – to be signed by the yacht’s owner;
  3. Power of attorney authorising to perform registration on behalf of the yacht’s owner;
  4. Bill of sale for the yacht;
  5. Builder’s certificate;
  6. A copy of deletion certificate from the previous registry (or Permission to transfer or delete, or other proof of consent to transfer registry from the current registry). If not available, then a Letter of Guarantee by the previous owners that the yacht will be deleted from the previous registry and the original deletion certificate will be provided;
  7. Declaration by the owner that the yacht will be used as a pleasure boat (i.e. private use only, NOT commercial);
  8. Confirmation from the owners of a recognised organisation that will be responsible for the issuance of the class and statutory certificates on behalf of Belize;
  9. Copies of current documents:
    1. ship’s patent;
    2. radio station licence;
    3. tonnage measurement certificate;
  10. Certificate of Compliance for a pleasure boat.
The list of documents will be different if the yacht is to be used commercially.

Example of information that will be required from the client to fill in the documents:

  • details of the owners and managers,
  • details of the yacht,
  • how the yacht will be used,
  • features of the radio equipment.

- certificate of registration (valid for 5 years);
