At the end of December 2024, the Spanish Parliament ultimately approved the amendments that abolish the granting of residence for investment.
Any of the following options are allowed:
The residence permit is renewed every 2 years, provided that the applicant continues to meet the programme criteria and retains the investment.
In case of sale/exit from the investment, the residence permit is cancelled.
Once the investor receives a permanent residence permit (PR), there is no need to retain the investment.
An application for PR can be submitted after 5 years of being a resident. To qualify for PR, an individual must reside in the country for at least 6 months in each year.
At the time of application, the investor must be in Spain. He/she can enter the country on a Schengen visa.
After the application is submitted, fingerprints are taken from the investor and his/her family members.
The application assessment takes up to 20 working days.
Once the application is approved, a residence permit card is issued.
